Is considered the best repository of objects from the Prehispanic Canary Islands. The museum also houses significant paleontological, botanical, entomological and marine and terrestrial vertebrate collections, in an excellent state of preservation, and is considered the best Natural Library of the Canary Islands.


History and Anthropology Museum

The Museum of History and Anthropology of Tenerife holds out the prospect of spreading the history of the island of Tenerife, offering an overview of institutional, socio-economic and cultural development of the island, from the fifteenth century to the twentieth century.


Fine Arts Museum

Museo Municipal de Bellas Artes de Santa Cruz De Tenerife

The Museo Municipal de Bellas Artes de Santa Cruz de Tenerife is a museum of fine arts located in the city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Its headquarters are located in the rear of the Church of St. Francis of Asis.

The museum dates back to 1840, when the city agreed to make some boxes to preserve flags from the Battle of Cape St Vincent (1797) against Admiral Horatio Nelson. The building is of a classical style and was established in early 1929 by the architect Eladio Laredo. The exterior is decorated with ten different busts of the illustrious of Tenerife.

The museum has fourteen rooms that have a background as a repository of works from the Prado Museum in Madrid. The museum houses an art collection ranging from sixteenth century Flemish to twentieth century paintings, as well as a sample of sculptures and crafts. The "Tríptico de Nava y Grimón" by the Flemish painter Pieter Coecke is one of the most notable parts of the collection. Other noteworthy works are those by Canarian painter Juan de Miranda, Afonso Gaspar de Quevedo, Jose Rivera and Cristóbal Hernández de Quintana, among others.


The Tenerife Space of Arts

Tenerife Espacio de Las Artes (TEA)

The Tenerife Space of Arts (Tenerife Espacio de las Artes - TEA); is a building of approximately 20,622 square metres that houses the contemporary museum Óscar Domínguez Institute (Instituto Óscar Domínguez); the Alejandro Cioranescu Island Library (Biblioteca Insular Alejandro Cioranescu) and the Center for Photography Island of Tenerife (Centro de Fotografía Isla de Tenerife). In addition, the property has a hall, a restaurant, a shop, a public square, and many offices.


The Art Center La Recova

The Art Center La Recova was opened in 1992 as a cultural space. The specific structural features of the building, with a central covered courtyard, give the same versatility that opens up great possibilities for artistic expression. Annually hosts approximately 12 exhibitions, among which the International Comic Salon the only one of its kind to be held in the Canary Islands and has gained a deserved reputation.


The Museum of Vine and Wine of Tenerife

This thematic Hall has an attractive itinerary that offers an insight into the history of the wines of Tenerife and their importance, together with a view of the current situation of the island wine growing industry. It is located in the former “La Hacienda” winery, where red wines used to be made.


Ceramics Center and Ethnographic Museum Cha Domitila

This museum is located in a beautiful town that was built by its inhabitants according to the rules of traditional Canarian architecture.

The reconstruction and design of the museum was designed by Don Luis Ibañez, who transformed an old ruined house in the new site where the museum, respecting its original and traditional details.

The mission of the museum is to preserve and to bring to the knowledge of the public the traditional methods of pottery, as they were employed and observed by the Guanches.
